I love to be corrected – update to previous post

And we have several corrections related to the previous post “Input of archivists in ‘Librarianship and Traditional Cultural Expressions: Nurturing Understanding and Respect’?.” First, there seems to have been a bit of a mixup about the status of the SAA documents that were sent to RBMS (see comment on that post from RBMS chair Deborah Leslie). Second, yes, SAA did ask for member input on this document in mid-November (with a closing date of December 4). In addition they solicited comments from several groups, including the Intellectual Property Working Group. Those comments are still being compiled and will be used as SAA works on a formal response to ALA. My apologies for the confusion. On the bright side, maybe a few more people will take a look at the draft document and the online videos from the ALA-sponsored conference “Cultural Heritage and Living Culture: Defining The U.S. Library Position on Access and Protection of Traditional Cultural Expression.”
